Vladimir Shubin

Vladimir Shubin is a highly respected double bass player from Russia. He performed on the Philippe Petit & Friends release 'Cordophony' in 2012.

Here's a little more information about Vladimir Shubin:

Vladimir Shubin was born in Leningrad in 1980. Upon graduation from the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College in 2000, he entered the  Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatoire to continue his double bass studies with Assosiate Professor Rostislav Yakovlev. In 2009, he completed there a postgraduate course. He has taken part in masterclasses of C.Rumpf, R.Ibragimov, T.Martin, L.Rakov, and S.Akopov.

From 1999 to 2002 he was a member of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, and in 2005, joined the St. Petersburg State Cappella Symphony Orchestra, where he has been principal double bass since 2008. In 2007, he won the first prize of the XXI International Strings Competition in Tolyatti.

Vladimir Shubin frequently appears as a member of chamber ensembles as well as a soloist with symphony orchestras in Russia and abroad.
