I'm going to keep this short and brief about Giulio Aldinucci, or at least as brief as I can. There is something of a movement in Italy right now in regards to modern compostion with a strong focus on environmental recordings, post-classical structures, and really unique, broad organic works that are somehow completely unique to certain parts of the country. I think its been quite an unheralded movement but it is perhaps no surprise that we now have a few Italian artists working with us who are slowly but surely receiving deserved acclaim.
Giulio sent me work when we weren't really accepting demos as I have known about his Obsil moniker for a while. I've been a huge fan of the Psychonavigation label for a while so perhaps its not a huge surprise we have started working with two of their artists now (the other being Stefano Guzzetti of Waves On Canvas fame). Nothing really prepared me for 'Tarsia' though, which just blew my socks off. It was released on our sister label Nomadic Kids Republic in 2012. I remember receiving the CDs the day before I left for England, and by the time I had landed my wife had emailed me to say the wholesale orders had come in and it had sold out. It was that fast. It was noted on a lot of 'end of year' lists, but really not given the attention it actually deserved.
Giulio then followed this up with 'Goccia' which he also wanted to release with us. Working with such lovely, talented artists is a pleasure, so I didn't hesitate. The album is mesmerising, utterly stunning...actually I am listening now and I am sort of lost for words by just how amazing it is. NKR is being run by friends now so we've sneakily nabbed 'Goccia' to release on Home Normal at the end of the year. We will also tie this in with a much deserved re-issue of 'Tarsia', except this will be on Home Normal at the same time. Trust me when I say though that 'Goccia' will be one of the highlights of the year and hopefully, a defining moment of recognition for this incredibly talented artist.
In 2014 we will hopefully see Giulio play London again as we celebrate our 5th anniversary.

Here's a little more about Giulio Aldinucci:
My name is Giulio Aldinucci. I was born in Siena (Italy) in 1981 and began learning music when I was a child. In addition to my musical research, that always focuses on different synthesis methods and on the use of field recordings, I also write music for acoustic instruments.
