Celer

Between 2005 and 2009, Celer was the husband and wife duo of Danielle Baquet-Long and Will Long. On July 8th 2009, Dani passed away. Since 2009, Will has continued to release their numerous works as a solo project, as well as releasing previously unreleased work the pair made together before Dani's untimely passing.

'Engaged Touches' was our second release and was one of the releases that helped set-up the direction of Home Normal. We had been in touch with each other a couple of years before that through our respective works on the netlabel scene. It was in one of many generous packages back and forth that we realised it would be possible to actually set-up a label (it had previously felt like a pipe-dream). The initial Celer releases were beautifully made spray-painted CDR packages, with music that was simply divine, and incredibily pure in spirit and soul. Personal favourites included 'Red Seals' and 'Belsslsssll' at the time, and to date 'Close Proximity And The Unhindered Care-All' is probably our favourite, slightly more recent Celer release.

Together, and still as Will continues, the music and poetry of Celer has impacted the lives of many. Long may it continue to do so.

Here's a little more information about Celer:

Founded in 2005, at the beginning of their relationship in Huntington Beach, California, U.S.A., Celer was created as a musical and artistic collaboration between Danielle Baquet-Long and Will Long. The couple was married on March 1, 2007, in Santa Ana, California U.S.A.. After producing music for record labels, installations, and exhibits worldwide from 2005-2009, Danielle Baquet-Long died on July 8, 2009 of congenital heart failure. From 2005 to 2009, Celer was the duo of Will Long and Danielle Baquet-Long. From 2009 to the present, Celer is the solo ambient project of Will Long.

Between 2005 and 2007, the couple created 22 releases, which they Self-released on their own, packaged in handmade, hand-painted packages, with designs, and individual stencils. The handmade packaging designs have been described as "deliciously mysterious", where "Muted and bleach colours stretch as far as the eye can see in these panoramic paintings for the mind", and the music as "deeply personal, or unwittingly obscure", and "gentle, haunting and evocative".
